This handcrafted wooden board game, Nine Men's Morris, also known as Morris, the Mill Game, and in the U.S., "Cowboy Checkers", is listed amongst the oldest games known to man. Throughout the centuries the game has seen multiple surges in popularity, and further expansion in the form of rules variants, such as Twelve Men's Morris, which was brought to the Americas by English colonists. A simple yet challenging strategy game, handcrafted from cherry or maple hardwood, with pyrographed artistic decoration surrounding the playing grid. This fully customizable traditional board game is a piece of functional art that will test the mind and please the eyes for generations.

• OBJECT OF THE GAME: Morris is a 2-player strategy game, with simple rules that offer a surprising level of thought and tactics. Players try to form mills - three of their own men lined horizontally or vertically - allowing that player to remove an opponent's man from the game. A player wins by reducing the opponent to two men (whereupon they can no longer form mills and thus are unable to win), or by leaving them without a legal move. Popular variants of Nine-Men's Morris are Six- and Twelve-Men's Morris, each with different piece counts per player and different piece alignment rules. A rules pamphlet for the 3 popular variants of the game is included.
