This handsomely handcrafted wooden board game is an artistic representation of one of the world's oldest games, featuring artwork inspired by the cultures who played it originally. Artwork is burned into the wood surface by hand, then accented with vibrant colors that still allow the natural beauty of the wood to show through. Patolli is one of the oldest known games from the Americas. Variants of the game were played by a wide range of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures - the Teotihuacan played it, as well as the Toltecs, Aztecs, and the ancient Mayans. It is still popular today in parts of Mexico and Central America. A wonderful addition for the avid game collector as well as admirers of pre-Columbian art styles, this game will challenge players and attract admirers for generations to come.

• OBJECT OF THE GAME: Patolli is a racing game for 2-4 players. Historically, wagers were placed for each piece before it began its run, making the original object of the game to obtain the most goods or treasures. Players use beans, marked on one side, as dice for movement. The goal is to enter a piece onto the board, race around the track, and exit once completing the lap. Other players can land on an opponent's occupied space and remove the opposing piece, unless they reside on one of the safe spaces along the track. A player who successfully completes the track with each of their pieces wins the game. Individual player piece counts are different depending on the total number of players involved. A rules pamphlet is included with the game.
